Shawn Johnson is a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, former Casper City Council member and attorney running as the Libertarian nominee for Wyoming's open at-large U.S. House seat. He served as a combat medic and a county jail deputy before holding local office and earning a law degree. Johnson is a Wyoming native, born in Casper; he spent his middle and high school years in the Denver area before moving back to Casper in 2007.[2] He served in the Army National Guard as a combat medic for 21 years (2000 to 2021), including a deployment to Iraq in 2003-2004, and spent 13 years as a Natrona County Sheriff's Office jail deputy.[1][2][3] He earned an associate degree from Casper College (2016), a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming (2019), and a law degree from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law (2024).[1]

Johnson served two terms on the Casper City Council from 2014 to 2022, including one year as vice mayor in 2019.[1][2] According to Cowboy State Daily, he ran for the Wyoming House in 2020 and for the Natrona County Commission in 2022 as a Libertarian.[3] He is now a practicing attorney whose practice includes family law, criminal defense and civil litigation, and he lives in Thermopolis. The Libertarian Party of Wyoming nominated him unanimously at its convention on May 31, 2026.[2][3]
