Biography
Shaara Watts is the Democratic nominee for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 29C, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing incumbent Todd Morgan (R).[1][2] A property manager by career experience, she says in a Ballotpedia survey that her main campaign message is water use in Calvert and St. Mary's Counties.[2][3]
Shaara Watts graduated from Oakland Mills High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1989.[2] Her career experience includes working as a property manager.[2]
Watts won the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary with 41.7% of the vote in a four-candidate field.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said Calvert and St. Mary's Counties share a dwindling water source and that development should be approached on a regional basis.[3] She also named local business and jobs, including retraining workers, and a transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy as campaign priorities.[3]
