Biography
Sarah Rascón is a Democratic candidate for California State Senate District 26, an open seat with no incumbent, in the November 3, 2026 general election against fellow Democrat Sara Hernandez.[1] Her career has included work as a legislative field representative and as Director of County and Regional Affairs for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, according to her Ballotpedia survey.[2]
Sarah Rascón graduated from Ramona Convent Secondary School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Merced in 2012, and Ballotpedia says she also attended Universität Potsdam.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she is described as a native Angeleno from El Sereno, raised by her immigrant grandmother, and a first-generation college graduate.[2] After college she worked as a community development organizer and then as a field representative in the California State Assembly for Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez.[2]
The survey response says Rascón served as the inaugural Urban River Program Officer and then as Deputy Executive Officer of Environmental Equity for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.[2] It says she recently worked as Director of County and Regional Affairs for Mayor Karen Bass.[2] It also lists her service on the East LA Area Planning Commission, the board of CicLAvia and as a California Democratic Party delegate.[2]
