Biography
Samantha Wilcox is the candidate Ballotpedia lists as the Democratic nominee for the Rhode Island State Senate, District 34, in the November 3, 2026 general election, having won the September 9, 2026 Democratic primary.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said she is president of the Richmond Town Council, to which she was elected in 2022.[1]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Samantha Wilcox said she moved to the district more than 10 years ago, first to Exeter and now Richmond.[1] She said that since being elected to the Town Council in 2022 she has focused on protecting the environment, spending tax dollars wisely, supporting responsible economic development, and improving transparency and civic engagement.[1] She listed among her accomplishments improvements to senior and 100% disabled tax exemptions, and said she has worked with a Democratic majority on the council.[1]
Wilcox said she is running because rural communities deserve a strong voice at the State House, and named affordability, accountable government, environmental protection and preserving the district's rural character as priorities.[1] Her survey also lists support for consistent statewide academic standards and predictable state education funding.[1] Ballotpedia lists Clean Water Action as endorsing her, and she faces Republican incumbent Elaine Morgan in the general election.[1]
