Biography

Ryan Berry is the Republican candidate for Alaska State Senate District M in the November 3, 2026 general election, having advanced from the August 18 primary.[1][2] A Wasilla mortgage broker and small business owner, he said in a Ballotpedia survey that energy is the main issue facing Southcentral Alaska.[2][3]

Ryan Berry graduated from Colony High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2003.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, Berry said he has lived in the Mat-Su Valley since 1983, has spent 17 years in the mortgage business, and owns and operates Amped Mortgage in Wasilla.[3] He also said he has coached youth sports, served with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Junior Achievement, been active in the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Board of Realtors, and co-founded Get Moving Mat-Su.[3]

Berry advanced from the nonpartisan primary on August 18, 2026, alongside incumbent Cathy Tilton (R), Patricia Chesbro (D) and Zane Vrvilo (R).[2] In the survey he listed energy as his top priority, saying he would push for policies to get more Alaska natural gas produced, including competition in Cook Inlet and faster permitting.[3] He also said he supports following the statutory Permanent Fund Dividend formula, completing the Port MacKenzie rail spur, and school choice with accountability for results.[3]
