Biography

Ramon Mora Jr. is a healthcare worker from Vineland running as an independent for New Jersey's 2nd District. He says he grew up in Section 8 housing and experienced periods of homelessness, and that a back injury kept him from working for years. His campaign emphasizes affordability, government-accountability reforms and replacing ICE.[1][2]

Mora says he was born and raised in South Jersey and has lived there for 31 years; Front Runner New Jersey describes him as from Vineland.[1][2] He graduated from Vineland High School and earned an associate degree from Atlantic Cape Community College in 2018, which Front Runner New Jersey reports was in nursing.[1][2] He has worked in healthcare, including, according to WHYY, as a nurse technician.[1][3] Mora describes growing up in a Section 8 housing neighborhood and experiencing periods of homelessness, including as a teenager and again around age 20.[1]

Mora says a serious back injury paused his life for years and that he focused on physical recovery for about five years before this campaign; WHYY reports he said he had been on track to become a registered nurse until the injury, which resulted from a motorcycle crash.[1][2][3] He says he is running as a Progressive Independent after a falling out with the Democratic Party, that he is not a career politician, and, per WHYY, that he has no formal political experience.[2][3]
