Raj Goel

RCandidate

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Maryland Senate District 34

Biography

Raj Goel is the Republican candidate for Maryland State Senate District 34 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Mary-Dulany James (D).[1][3] An attorney who works in government administration, he lists schools, jobs, government accountability and the cost of living as his priorities.[1][2]

Goel earned a high school diploma from John Carroll High School, a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in 1994, and a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1998.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he was raised in Havre de Grace by immigrant parents.[2] He said he was an attorney in private practice until about three years ago, when he stepped away to focus on public service, becoming an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Law and Deputy Director in the Harford County Department of Economic Development.[2] Goel said that if elected he would work to strengthen schools, grow good-paying jobs, hold government accountable for every tax dollar, and reduce Maryland's tax and cost-of-living burden.[2]
