Biography

R. Tyler MacAllister is the Republican nominee for Massachusetts's 9th District and will face Rep. Bill Keating in the November general election. He serves on the Mattapoisett Select Board and owns a charter fishing business. He had not completed Ballotpedia's 2026 Candidate Connection survey; his campaign website has solutions and ballot-question pages.[1][2][3][7]

MacAllister was born in Massachusetts; a 2021 report says he is originally from Cape Cod and has lived in Mattapoisett with his family for about 20 years.[1][3] According to the same report, he holds a bachelor's degree in marine biology from UMass Dartmouth and an MBA from UMass.[3] He owns a charter fishing business and has worked as a consultant to the renewable energy industry.[3]

MacAllister served eight years on the Mattapoisett Select Board, left to apply for town administrator, and lost a close race to return to the board.[3] He later held a five-year seat on the Conservation Commission and served on the Plymouth County Advisory Board and the town Finance Committee.[3] In a July 2021 special election to fill the unexpired term of a member who had died, he won a Select Board seat, 471 votes to 224, and in May 2023 he was reelected to a three-year term.[3][4] Ballotpedia lists him as serving on the Mattapoisett Select Board as of 2026, while August 2026 news reports describe him as a former board member.[1][5][6]
