Biography
Patrick Leahy is a nonpartisan candidate for the Nebraska Legislature, District 6, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] He is a former member of the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District Board and, in a Ballotpedia survey, described himself as the CEO of First Star Recycling and an Army Reserve officer.[1][3]
Patrick Leahy advanced from the May 12, 2026 primary for District 6 and faces Nate Ostdiek in a race with no incumbent.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, Leahy said he previously raised money for schools, churches and nonprofits in Omaha, and that as a director of the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District Board he helped cut the property tax rate three times.[3] He listed lowering property taxes, delivering affordable childcare and addressing Nebraska's workforce shortage as the key messages of his campaign.[3] Leahy also said that, because of his Army Reserve background, he is concerned about recent cuts to veterans aid.[3]
