Biography

Norman "Sayf" Ramsay is a lifelong Brooklyn resident, community advocate, small-business owner, and Executive Director of BK5860, Inc. He is the Republican and Conservative Party candidate challenging incumbent Nikki Lucas, and says he is running on protecting seniors, housing, and economic opportunity.[1][2]

According to his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey, Norman Ramsay is a lifelong Brooklyn resident, community advocate, and small-business owner who has done community service, mentorship, and grassroots organizing.[1] He is the Executive Director of BK5860, Inc., which he says works to connect residents with resources, support youth development, assist seniors, promote public safety, and create opportunity for economic growth.[1] The Canarsie Courier reported that he also carries out his community work through Sayf Haven and the Alternatives to Violence Project, and that his professional nickname, "Sayf," gave its name to Sayf Haven, which he describes as a protective sanctuary where young people can find constructive opportunities and seniors can feel safer.[2]

Ramsay describes his candidacy as "A Story of Redemption and Service," saying his life reflects perseverance and personal growth turned into service to others.[1] In the Courier's interview he said a turning point came when his grandfather died while he was incarcerated, which led him to commit to a different path.[2] The Courier reported that his campaign emphasizes public safety, affordability, homeowner protections, employment opportunities and government accountability.[2]

The Republican and Conservative Party primaries for Assembly District 60, scheduled for June 23, 2026, were canceled, and Ramsay advanced to the general election on both lines.[1]
