Biography

N'Kiyla Thomas is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Oklahoma. A nurse, Chickasaw citizen and military spouse from Ardmore, she describes herself as not a career politician. She says she is running on accessible healthcare, support for teachers and nurses, and services for families raising children with disabilities.[1]

Thomas was born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and graduated from Ardmore High School. Her work experience includes nursing, work as a community health worker and time as a stay-at-home parent, and Ballotpedia lists her profession as nurse.[1] She has been affiliated with the Chickasaw Nation, autism support groups and advocacy, military spouse networks and veterans advocacy; her husband serves in the military.[1] In her Ballotpedia survey she says she is raising a neurodivergent child, which she cites as part of her motivation for running.[1]

Thomas advanced to the general election by defeating Jim Priest in the Democratic primary runoff on August 25, 2026, after a June 16 primary that sent the race to a runoff.[2]
