UnaffiliatedCandidate

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Utah House District 57

Biography

Nancy Lee Peterson is an Unaffiliated write-in candidate for the Utah House of Representatives, District 57, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where the incumbent is Republican Nelson Abbott.[1][2] Peterson is a retired professor who, in a Ballotpedia survey, said she spent her career at Utah Valley University and has lived in Orem for 29 years.[1][3]

Peterson earned a high school diploma from Burlington High School, a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1980, a graduate degree from Old Dominion University in 1994, and a degree from the University of Virginia in 1998.[1] Her career experience includes working as a professor.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said her career at Utah Valley University began when it was growing from a technical school and two-year college into a four-year university, and that she has been retired for four years.[3]

Peterson said she has served on the Orem Arts Council and donated platelets through the Red Cross.[3] She said she is running to offer voters a meaningful choice, noting that unopposed incumbents can remain unknown to the community, and that she wants to prevent national political anger from affecting state government.[3]
