Biography

Nadia Milleron is an attorney, small business owner and aviation-safety advocate running as an unenrolled candidate in Massachusetts's 1st District.[1][2] She became active in public advocacy after her daughter died in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX crash and ran against Rep. Richard Neal in 2024.[1][2] She describes her 2026 campaign as independent of party and focused on accountability, term limits and affordability.[1]

Milleron was born in Berkeley, California, and graduated from Berkeley High School.[1] She earned a bachelor's degree in government from Smith College in 1986 and a law degree from the University of Iowa in 1994.[1][4] She has worked as an attorney and small business owner, and she describes beginning her legal career representing children in contested family-court cases and, often pro bono, patients at a state mental hospital in probate court.[1] As of 2024 she had lived in the district for 25 years and worked as a farmer in Sheffield.[4]

Milleron's 24-year-old daughter, Samya Stumo, died in the March 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash.[2] She and her husband filed a wrongful-death suit against Boeing, and a jury awarded the family $49.5 million in damages on May 13, 2026, according to Wikipedia.[2] She has advocated for increased oversight of the airline industry since 2020, describes helping pass the bipartisan Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act that year, and says she worked with Illinois legislators to change a state law she says protected corporations over victims.[1][4]

Milleron ran as an unenrolled candidate for Massachusetts's 1st District in 2024 and lost to Neal in the November 5 general election, in which Neal received 62.4%.[1] She is running again in 2026 as an unenrolled candidate against Neal and has pledged, on her campaign website, to serve no more than six years if elected.[1][3]
