Biography
Nachman Caller is a Borough Park real estate attorney and Republican district leader running for the second time for this seat, after losing the May 2025 special election to Sam Sutton. He previously ran for State Assembly in 2014. He narrowly won the 2026 Republican primary over Bernard Vaiselberg and also carries the Conservative Party line; his campaign says it is built around housing development and support for yeshivas.[1][2][3][4]
Nachman Caller describes himself as a proud yeshivah graduate and a graduate with honors from Columbia Law School.[3] He practices as a real estate attorney; a 2014 report described him as a real estate and tax attorney, a 2025 BK Reader article called him a real estate attorney and community advocate for Borough Park, and City & State has described him as an Orthodox lawyer.[4][5][7] According to his campaign website, he has more than three decades of service to the Boro Park community and has helped develop thousands of housing units there as a real estate investor and attorney.[3] The site also says he advocated for tax breaks for landlords and developers building rental apartments, fought the construction of casinos in the Catskills, and produced a 16-page housing plan.[3]
Caller ran for State Assembly in 2014 on the Republican and Housing & Jobs Party lines, challenging incumbent Dov Hikind in the 48th District, and lost.[1][5] He serves as a Republican district leader.[4] In the May 2025 special election for this Senate seat he ran on the Republican and Conservative lines and lost to Sam Sutton.[6][2][4][7] He advanced from the Republican and Conservative primaries on June 23, 2026.[1]
