Mercedes Vazquez-Simmons is a candidate on the Mercedes Simmons Cares Party line for the New York State Assembly, District 137, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] She lost the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary for the seat to incumbent Demond Meeks, receiving 18.5 percent of the vote to his 81.1 percent.[2]
