Biography
Maureen Gault is the Democratic candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives, District 24, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing incumbent Republican Carter Barrett.[1] An accountant who lives in Forsyth County, she says she is running on healthcare costs, veterans' healthcare and medical debt.[1][2]
Gault earned a high school diploma from Tift County High School and a graduate degree from Valdosta State University in 2013, and Ballotpedia lists her career experience as working in accounting.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said she grew up in Tifton, has lived in Forsyth County for six years, and earned a business administration degree in 2012 and a Master of Accountancy in 2013, both from Valdosta State University.[2]
Gault said in the survey that rising healthcare costs have caused insurance premiums to climb, that veterans' healthcare is understaffed and underfunded, and that medical debt should not be a leading contributor to household bankruptcy.[2] She also said she is running because she believes Georgia deserves to be represented by people who understand their constituents' lives.[2]
