Nesgoda said in a Ballotpedia survey that she was born and raised in Saint Paul and was divorced and raising three young children by age 25.[3] She said she remained a single parent until her children graduated from high school, and that she had wanted to become involved in local politics after retiring.[3] Nesgoda described 40 years of experience in business and industry, working for large corporations at manufacturing facilities across the country, where she said she led large production teams and managed substantial budgets.[3]
Nesgoda listed affordable, accessible healthcare as her top priority and said she wants Minnesota to become the first state with universal healthcare.[3] She also named affordability and quality of life, and stronger oversight of public funding, including measures to prevent fraud and recover assets, among her main goals.[3] Her survey listed mental healthcare and suicide prevention, combating hunger, free school meals for children, stable housing, homelessness prevention and addiction recovery as other policy interests, and named Education Minnesota and Minnesota National Organization for Women as endorsers.[3]
