On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: U.S. House · Florida's 16th District

Biography

Mark Davis is a U.S. Air Force veteran and small-business owner running with no party affiliation for the open 16th District seat. His campaign materials describe him as a political newcomer who moved to Florida about four years ago and entered the race after a public confrontation with the governor over health care. He is running on health care, economic security and what he calls accountability in government.[1][2][3]

Davis earned a high school diploma from Western High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 2005 to 2013.[4][2] He describes himself as a father, veteran and small-business owner who has worked in healthcare, and his campaign website says he moved to Florida about four years ago.[1][3]

Davis says he is not a politician and built an online following before running.[1][2] In his Candidate Connection survey he says he saw corruption up close in healthcare, spoke up, and then confronted the governor face to face, and that he supports a single-payer health system.[1] He lists affordable healthcare, protecting freedoms, economic security and restoring truth to government as his priorities.[1]

WWSB reported that Davis was arrested on July 28, 2026, for obstructing an officer without violence during a court-ordered welfare check of his children by Department of Children and Families investigators.[4][2] Davis told ABC7 the complaint is false and is retaliation for his criticism of President Trump and Gov. DeSantis.[4][2] This is a misdemeanor charge, not a conviction.[4][2]
