Biography
Margaret Spear is the Democratic candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives, District 3, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing incumbent Republican Mitchell Horner.[1] She is chief of staff at a civil engineering firm and says she is running to give District 3 practical, accountable representation.[1][2]
Spear graduated from Bloomington High School North and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in 2009.[1] Ballotpedia lists her career experience as working as a chief of staff, and in a Ballotpedia survey she said she holds that role at a local civil engineering firm.[1][2]
Spear said in the survey that she is running because she wants District 3 represented by someone focused on the everyday realities of local families, noting that no Democrat had challenged the Republican party in Catoosa County for 18 years.[2] She described herself as a neighbor and problem-solver who wants to bring what she called thoughtful, steady leadership to Atlanta.[2]
