Biography
Margaret Mitchell is the Democratic candidate for the Montana State Senate, District 10, in the November 3, 2026 general election, having advanced from the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026.[1][3] An engineering manager and small business owner in Great Falls, she says her priorities include affordability, economic opportunity and public lands.[1][2]
Margaret Mitchell graduated from Great Falls High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Montana State University in 1988 and a graduate degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1999.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she described herself as a fourth-generation Great Falls native who left Montana for her first professional job, worked her way from software engineer to vice president at American Express and later became chief information officer of a med-tech startup.[2] She said she moved back to Montana in 2022, runs a small business in Great Falls and is an adjunct professor at Montana State University.[2]
Mitchell listed three campaign messages: keeping Montana affordable through economic growth and transparent taxes, creating opportunity through education, safety and infrastructure, and safeguarding public lands, clean water and the right to a healthful environment.[2]
