Lucius Parshall is a Democratic state representative who currently represents Cheshire District 8 in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and is seeking re-election in Cheshire District 16 on November 3, 2026.[1][2] A former music teacher, he says in a Ballotpedia survey that he is running for a fourth term.[3]
Lucius Parshall was born in Penn Yan, New York.[1] He earned an associate degree from Finger Lakes Community College in 1982, a bachelor's degree in music from Ithaca College in 1987, and a master's degree in business administration from Binghamton University in 1989.[1] Ballotpedia lists his career experience as including work as a music teacher, in arts administration for WNYC Public Radio and the Cummington Arts Colony, in food service, as a ranch hand, and as a truck driver.[1]
In a 2026 Ballotpedia survey, Parshall said he moved to New Hampshire in the mid-1990s, gained teaching credentials from Keene State College, and taught public school music in the Monadnock region for 20 years before retiring in 2020.[3] He said he and his wife moved from Keene to Marlborough in 2017 and that he became active in the local Democratic committee.[3] Parshall assumed office in the New Hampshire House on December 7, 2022, according to Ballotpedia, and for the 2023-2024 session was assigned to the Science, Technology and Energy Committee.[1]
Parshall advanced from the Democratic primary on September 8, 2026, and faces Republican Alexander Nalevanko in the Cheshire 16 general election.[1][2] In the survey, he listed money in politics, ethical standards, education, infrastructure, and the affordability of health care among the policy areas he is passionate about.[3]
