Biography
Laura Marsh is an independent candidate for Arkansas House of Representatives District 23, challenging incumbent Republican Kendra Moore in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1] A public school teacher who teaches civics, she says her campaign priorities are affordability, accountability in state spending and putting people over politics.[1][2]
Laura Marsh graduated from North Little Rock Northeast High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1989 and a graduate degree from the same university in 1993.[1] She earned a teaching endorsement from John Brown University in 2023.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she described herself as a long-term resident of West Fayetteville with degrees in political science and secondary education, a public school teacher currently teaching civics, and a married mother of four adult sons.[2]
Marsh said her three key messages are affordability, accountability and putting people over politics.[2] Under affordability, she said any new tax cuts should be directed at Arkansans earning the median income rather than higher earners, and she said the state should look at additional homestead tax credits for income-qualified seniors.[2] She said she is passionate about tax policy, farm and agricultural business, education, children, women's health, rehabilitation and recidivism, and health care reform.[2]
