Biography
Lakeshia Alston is the Republican candidate for North Carolina State Senate District 22 in the November 3, 2026 general election, challenging incumbent Sophia Chitlik (D).[1][3] A Durham native, she said in a Ballotpedia survey that her platform covers labor, economic development and regulation, tax reform, education and technology.[2]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Alston described herself as a Durham native and listed supporting the unionization of teachers, establishing FDA manufacturing filters for cosmetic, toiletry and hospital products, and creating tax benefits to encourage home ownership among her platform items.[2] She also listed protecting the intellectual property rights of university students and addressing frictional wages through the use of AI technologies.[2] She advanced to the general election after the Republican primary was canceled.[1]
