Kevin Ritter is a Republican state representative from Ohio who has represented District 94 since January 2025 and is seeking re-election on November 3, 2026.[1][2] A former Washington County commissioner and history teacher, he serves as vice chair of the Workforce and Higher Education Committee.[1][3]
Kevin Ritter was born in Muskegon, Michigan, and earned bachelor's and graduate degrees from Central Michigan University in 1990 and 1992.[1] In a 2024 Ballotpedia survey, he said he had grown up north of Detroit, attended Central Michigan University on a baseball scholarship, and completed PhD coursework in European history at Western Michigan University before leaving to found a sports development organization, Coast to Coast Baseball.[3] He wrote that he also taught history and American government at the college and high school levels, and that in 2014 he and his wife joined two other couples in founding Veritas Academy, a private classical school in Marietta.[3]
Ritter said in the same survey that he was elected a Washington County commissioner in fall 2018 and ran unopposed for re-election in fall 2022.[3] He won the open District 94 seat in the November 2024 general election, defeating Democrat Wenda Sheard and Andrea Neutzling, and took office on January 1, 2025.[1] His 2025–2026 committee assignments are the Education, Energy and Finance committees and the Workforce and Higher Education Committee, where he is vice chair.[1] Among his stated priorities in the survey were small government and low taxation, education, energy independence and workforce development.[3]
Ritter advanced unopposed from the May 5, 2026 Republican primary and faces Democrat Wenda Sheard in the general election.[1]
