Biography

Katy Tyndell is a Wichita attorney, business owner and civic leader who, by her own account, has spent two decades in independent oil and gas operations, small business and public policy. She won the Democratic primary for Kansas's 4th District and describes her campaign as focused on affordability, bridging political divides and Congress's constitutional role.[1][4]

Tyndell describes herself as an attorney, business owner, civic leader and mother of three with deep Kansas roots. She says she grew up in a rural farming and ranching community in northeast Oregon.[1][3]

By her account, she has spent the past two decades in independent oil and gas operations, small business and public policy, with experience in federal government, non-profit advocacy and private enterprise, including advancing federal legislation and building bipartisan civic coalitions.[1] She is a co-founder of Leading Kansas, a non-partisan organization.[2][3]

Tyndell switched her party affiliation from independent to Democrat to enter the race, and she won the Democratic primary to face Republican Rep. Ron Estes.[2][3][4] In her Ballotpedia Candidate Connection submission she lists affordability, bridging the divide, and Congress and the Constitution as her key messages.[1]
