Biography
Katie Crosby is the Democratic candidate for South Carolina House of Representatives District 44 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against Republican incumbent Mike Neese.[1] A real estate agent and former classroom teacher, she says in a Ballotpedia survey that her priorities center on public school funding.[1][2]
Katie Crosby was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, and earned a high school diploma from A.L. Brown High School and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2016.[1] In her 2026 Ballotpedia survey, she said she earned a dual degree in elementary and special education as a Levine Scholar, taught in a Title I school, worked with the Urban Ministry Center, and taught in Peru and South Africa.[2] She said she moved to South Carolina in 2019 with her husband and began working in real estate.[2] Ballotpedia lists her career experience as tutor and real estate, and, as of 2024, her affiliations as including the Lancaster NAACP, the Indian Land Action Council, the National Association of REALTORS and the SC Association of REALTORS.[1]
Crosby said in the survey that strong public schools are the foundation of a strong community and that rapid growth, overcrowded classrooms and underpaid teachers are straining District 44.[2] She said education dollars should go to neighborhood public schools rather than private voucher programs.[2]
