Joseph Rand is the Democratic and Working Families Party candidate for New York State Senate District 38 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Republican William Weber Jr.[1][2] His campaign website describes him as the mayor of Nyack and a former Rockland real estate executive.[3]
Rand's campaign website says he helped grow Rand Realty into one of Rockland County's largest real estate companies, with more than 150 employees and 1,200 agents in the region.[3] The site says he holds two degrees from Georgetown University and a law degree from Stanford Law School, and that he previously served as a federal judicial clerk, litigation attorney and law professor.[3]
As mayor of Nyack, Rand says he secured a $4.5 million New York Forward grant and kept the village within the 2 percent tax cap.[3] He lives in Nyack with his wife and two children, according to the site.[3] His listed priorities include affordability, state funding for infrastructure and transit, public safety, education and civic pride.[3]
