Biography
Joe Watkins is the Democratic candidate for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 75, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces Republican incumbent T. Marti.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, Watkins described himself as a Tulsa native who rose from entry-level work to corporate IT specialist at QuikTrip before reviving his father's woodworking business, Wood Dimensions Co., in 2021.[2]
Joe Watkins earned a high school diploma from Memorial High School and lists carpenter as his profession.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he was born at Saint Francis and raised in Midtown Tulsa as the eldest son of two small business owners, and that he got his first job at 14.[2] He said that after graduating from Memorial High he built a career at QuikTrip, rising from entry-level work to management to corporate IT specialist, and that in 2021 he revitalized Wood Dimensions Co., his father's former woodworking business.[2] Watkins said he co-founded From Heart to Hand Outreach, which collects and delivers supplies to people experiencing homelessness in Tulsa, and serves on the leadership team of the Forum for Real Economic Emancipation (F.R.E.E.), a non-profit focused on economic opportunity and community development.[2]
In the survey, Watkins named affordable housing, affordable health care and public education as his three key campaign messages.[2] He said he would pursue a State-Local Match for Oklahoma's Housing Trust Fund and Right to Counsel legislation for tenants in eviction court, state-level caps on prescription drug costs such as insulin and inhalers along with a Patient Bill of Rights, and an end to further private school voucher expansion, with the funds redirected to pay for school support staff.[2]
