Jodie Minor is an independent candidate for Alabama State Senate District 21 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Republican Gerald Allen.[1][2] A retired U.S. Army officer and preacher, he says his priorities include rural health care access, education, law enforcement and economic opportunity.[1][3]
Jodie Minor was born in Carrollton, Alabama, and served in the U.S. Army from 2004 to 2024.[1] He earned a high school diploma from Carrollton High School, a bachelor's degree from Athens State University, an M.B.A. from Alabama A&M University, a master's degree in legislative affairs from George Washington University and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University.[1] His career experience includes working as a military officer and preacher, and he has served as a congressional fellow for Representative Robert Aderholt and as a human capital director for the White House's National Security Council.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he served two combat tours in Baghdad, leads congregational ministry at the Pickens County Jail and is a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.[3]
Ballotpedia lists Minor among withdrawn or disqualified candidates in the Democratic primary; he is on the general election ballot as an independent.[1] In the survey, he said he wants to address the rural health care crisis, including hospital closures in District 21, and to represent veterans in Montgomery.[3] He also said Alabama's schools and learning programs should be linked to job-market demands, and that gun laws should honor Second Amendment rights while putting law enforcement and community safety first.[3]
