Biography
Jo Ann Roth is the Democratic candidate for the Kansas House of Representatives, District 113, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing Republican incumbent Brett Fairchild.[1][3] In a 2022 Ballotpedia survey, she said she is a retired federal employee from Ellinwood who supports Medicaid expansion and more staffing at Larned State Hospital.[2]
Jo Ann Roth said in a 2022 Ballotpedia survey that she grew up on a farm near Cheyenne Bottoms and worked for about twelve years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, later the Farm Service Agency, in Barton County, Kansas.[2] She said she was elected to three terms on the Barton County Committee that oversees the local FSA office, and that after September 11 she worked for the Transportation Security Administration until her federal retirement.[2] She also said she was a member of Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership class IV in 1998-99 and belongs to the Kansas Farm Bureau.[2]
Roth advanced unopposed from the Democratic primary for District 113 on August 6, 2024, and again on August 4, 2026, when she received 599 votes.[1] In the 2022 survey, she said she supports Medicaid expansion, opposes a constitutional amendment on the ballot at the time and supports the right to privacy under the U.S. and Kansas constitutions.[2] She also said Larned State Hospital is understaffed and that its staffing should be a priority.[2]
