Biography
Jim Toomey is the Democratic candidate for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 47, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces incumbent Republican Mike Shaw.[1][2]
Toomey was the Democratic nominee for District 47 in 2018, when he lost the general election to David Wheeler, 54.3 percent to 45.7 percent.[1] He ran in the Democratic primary for the seat again in 2022 and lost to Christian Coleman by a narrow margin.[1] For 2026, Toomey advanced to the general election without appearing on a primary ballot, because the Democratic primary scheduled for May 19, 2026, was canceled.[1]
