Jarren Hurt served in the U.S. Navy from 2006 to 2011, graduated from Martinsville High School, attended Ivy Tech, and earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 2015, according to Ballotpedia.[1] His career experience includes working as a construction worker.[1]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Hurt's biography said he was born and raised in Martinsville, lives in Camby with his wife and three children, and served as a submariner in the Navy.[2] It describes experience in retail and small-business management, real estate, and utility construction, where he is a small business owner building fiber optic infrastructure.[2] He said he had not intended to run for office but did so because no one else signed up.[2] He listed direct state funding for public education and expanded universal pre-K as a key message, along with eliminating Indiana's 7% sales tax on residential utility services and requiring data center operators to pay what he called their fair share.[2] He also said he supports a two-term limit for elected offices.[2]
