Biography

Janine Coole is the Democratic candidate for the Montana House of Representatives, District 54, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she said she is an assistant yardmaster with BNSF in Laurel and a U.S. Air Force veteran.[2]

In a Ballotpedia survey, Janine Coole said she began her career in the U.S. Air Force as an airborne radio technician at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, working on EC-135 and RC-135 aircraft.[2] She said she then worked for Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, starting in fiber optics for the U-2 program and rising to program coordinator for the F-117.[2] Coole said she has worked for BNSF as an assistant yardmaster in Laurel for 27 years.[2]

Coole listed three key messages: opposition to the state's plan to place a forensic medical facility in Laurel, citing public safety, proximity to an elementary school, infrastructure demands and lost property tax revenue; affordability, including jobs, health care, property taxes and housing; and protecting public lands, clean air and clean water.[2] She said she is especially concerned about the influence of dark money on elected officials.[2]
