Biography
James Mol is the Democratic candidate for the Connecticut House of Representatives, District 61, in the November 3, 2026 general election against incumbent Tami Zawistowski (R / Independent Party of Connecticut).[1][2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as a small-business owner and farmer who has served on the Suffield Board of Education since 2019 and said he is running to address education funding and property taxes.[3]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Mol said he runs a small hospitality consulting business, has three children in Suffield's public schools and has served on the Suffield Board of Education since 2019, including its Finance and Facilities Subcommittee.[3] He said that he and his wife bought a farm in West Suffield in 2008 to keep it from being developed.[3]
Mol said he is running to bring his school-budget experience to Suffield, East Granby and Windsor Locks.[3] His stated priorities include a modernized, inflation-indexed education funding formula written into permanent law, full funding of the 2025 special education grant, and a funding formula in which household income counts for more than property value alone.[3] He also named farmland preservation and farming viability, road safety, and the benefits of Bradley International Airport to the surrounding towns as areas of focus.[3]
Mol said he was endorsed by the Democratic Party at the 61st District nominating convention, AFSCME Council 4 and AFT Connecticut.[3]
