Jack Perry

Jack Perry is the Democratic candidate for Connecticut State Senate District 16 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Robert C. Sampson (R / Independent Party of Connecticut).[1][2] A Southington resident who founded a dumpster-rental business and served two terms on the Southington Town Council, he says his campaign centers on affordability and holding Eversource accountable.[3]

Perry graduated from Southington High School and worked as an operations manager, according to Ballotpedia.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he was raised by his single mother, an immigrant from Poland, and has lived in Southington his whole life, graduating through the school's vocational agriculture program.[3] He said he founded HQ Dumpsters right out of high school and built it to 50 employees and 30 trucks.[3] He said he was elected to the Southington Town Council in 2021 after first running as a petitioning candidate, and served two terms.[3]

Perry was the Democratic nominee for Connecticut State Senate District 16 in 2020, when Sampson defeated him in the general election with 53.8 percent of the vote to Perry's 46.2 percent.[2] Ballotpedia also lists him among withdrawn or disqualified candidates in the 2026 Democratic primary for U.S. House Connecticut District 1.[2] Perry said in the survey that his central focus is affordability, including legislation limiting price gouging, tax relief and an audit of state programs for savings.[3] He also proposed a Consumer Energy Commission and a state minority stake in Eversource, and said he is passionate about labor, energy and technology, and environmental policy.[3] Ballotpedia lists the Connecticut AFL-CIO among his endorsers.[2]
