Biography

Hillary Herzig is the Republican nominee for New Jersey's 6th Congressional District. A Monmouth County resident and career federal civil servant who worked in military-family support, veterans' services and Department of Homeland Security national-security roles, she is a first-time candidate running on parental rights in education, lower taxes, medical freedom, and national sovereignty with immigration reform.[1][2][3]

According to her campaign website, Herzig attended elementary, middle and high school in New Jersey, and she describes herself as a Monmouth County resident, mother of three and spouse of a U.S. Army veteran; the New Jersey Globe described her in November 2025 as an Oceanport resident.[1][2] She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University (2006-2010).[1] Her career as a civil servant (2010-2025) began as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police in Key West, Florida, followed by a post as a Special Security Representative with the U.S. Army National Ground Intelligence Center.[1][2] While stationed in Germany as an Army spouse, she taught military dependent children through the Department of Defense Education Activity.[1]

Herzig later worked at the Veterans Administration, USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, in asylum mission support and personnel security.[1][2] Her campaign website also lists experience as an artist and business owner, a veteran caregiver and a children's book author, and says she began pursuing a master's degree in political science with a public policy concentration at American Military University in 2025.[1] According to the website, her family traveled the country in 2022 before returning to New Jersey to raise their children.[1]
