On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Alabama House District 4

Biography

Hanu Karlapalem is the Democratic candidate for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 4, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces incumbent Republican Parker Moore.[1][2] In a Ballotpedia survey, Karlapalem described himself as a small technology business owner who has lived in Madison, Alabama, for 26 years.[3]

Karlapalem said in a Ballotpedia survey that he holds a master's degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and is a former board member of the UAH Alumni Association.[3] He also said he is a life member and former second vice president of the NAACP Limestone County Unit.[3]

Karlapalem was unopposed for the Democratic nomination, as the District 4 primary scheduled for May 19, 2026, was canceled.[1] His campaign theme, as he listed it in the survey, is "An Alabama We Can Afford," covering lower costs, stronger public schools and healthcare, and he called for a moratorium on new data center development along with community benefit agreements and environmental review.[3] He listed the Alabama AFL-CIO, 314 Action Fund, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Alabama Democratic County Chairs' Association as endorsers.[3]
