Biography

Genevieve Angel is the Republican candidate in California's 44th District and is running for office for the first time. She describes herself as a Filipina-Latin American mother, wife, small-business owner, family nurse practitioner and healthcare executive. In her Ballotpedia survey she lists economic affordability, public safety, healthcare reform and immigration reform among her priorities.[1]

Angel describes herself as an immigrant and as Filipina-Latin American; her Ballotpedia survey says she graduated from St. Theresa's College high school, listing 1988 in an earlier survey submission.[1] She earned a nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1992, an MBA from American International University (Los Angeles) in 2007, and a nursing master's degree from United States University in 2025, according to her survey; Ballotpedia's infobox lists the latter two as graduate degrees.[1]

Angel's career has included work as a registered nurse, family nurse practitioner, small-business owner and healthcare executive, and her campaign website says she has lived and served in the district for nearly 30 years.[1][3] A BallotReady profile lists past roles including chief executive of Huntington Park Community Care (2008-2013), chief nursing officer of Olympia Medical Center (2015-2016) and chief nursing officer at UHS (2023-2024).[2]

Angel is a first-time candidate who describes herself as "not a politician." She advanced from the June 2, 2026 primary and reports endorsements from Reform California and the LA GOP.[1]
