Biography
Gene Dvornick is the Republican candidate for Delaware House of Representatives District 20 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Democrat Alonna Berry.[1] A government administrator, he lists 20 years as Georgetown Town Manager and describes himself as a moderate Republican.[1][2]
Gene Dvornick earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Shepherd University in 1986, a master's degree in accounting from Virginia Tech in 1987, and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Delaware in 2020.[1] He has also earned certifications from the Delaware State Fire School and the International City/County Management Association.[1]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Dvornick gave his Delaware hometown as Milton and listed a 20-year tenure as Georgetown Town Manager and 40 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Milton Fire Department, where he has served as chief, captain, assistant chief and deputy chief.[2] He also listed service as a former Milton Town Council member, a gubernatorial appointment to the State of Delaware Clean Water Advisory Council, and a seat on the board of First State Community Action.[2]
Dvornick said in the survey that he is running as a moderate Republican and that one-party rule and limited state revenue streams are the most pressing concerns facing Delaware families.[2] He said infrastructure in the 20th District has not kept pace with population and housing growth, and that he would seek a better balance between the realty transfer tax revenue the district generates and the funding returned to it.[2]
