Fred Kelley

RCandidate

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Alabama House District 68

Biography

Fred Kelley is the Republican candidate for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 68, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing incumbent Democrat Thomas Jackson.[1][2] Kelley is a former marketing and safety director at South Alabama Gas, a commercial pilot, and a rescue diver from Monroeville who also ran for the seat in 2022.[1][3]

Fred Kelley was born in Mobile, Alabama, and earned an associate degree from Patrick Henry Community College in 1978, followed by further education at Coastal Alabama Community College in 2016.[1] His career experience includes working as a marketing and safety director for South Alabama Gas, master pipe fitter, commercial pilot, advanced underwater rescue diver, commercial truck driver, and state board certified nursing assistant.[1] Kelley has served as a board member for the Monroe County Economic Development Council, a pilot for the Alabama chapter of Pilots for Christ, a chaplain for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, and a foster parent through Monroe County DHR.[1]

Kelley was the Republican nominee for District 68 in 2022, when incumbent Thomas Jackson defeated him 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent.[1] In a 2022 Ballotpedia survey, he said he had never held political office, had founded the cycling fundraiser Pedalin' for a Cure, and planned to retire from South Alabama Gas after 30 years to devote himself full-time to the work.[3] He listed his key messages as that the district was losing jobs and population and needed a promoter, that it needed a Republican with conservative views, and that it needed a representative who would work.[3] He said he opposed abortion, favored lower taxes, less government, and Constitutional Carry, and supported Alabama's forest industry.[3]
