Ethan Sweetland-May is the Democratic candidate for Indiana State Senate District 47 in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing Republican incumbent Gary Byrne.[1][2] An account executive from New Albany, he says his campaign centers on affordability.[1][3]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Ethan Sweetland-May said he was born and raised in Terre Haute in a homeschooling family of eleven children and attended Bethel School of Ministry in Redding, California.[3] He said he moved to New Albany in 2009 and worked for 11 years as a garbage truck operator, driver and manager, followed by five years in technical manufacturing sales.[3] He said his agenda focuses on reducing the cost of housing, healthcare, utilities and childcare.[3]
