Biography
Elizabeth Ferris is the Democratic candidate for West Virginia State Senate District 15 in the November 3, 2026 general election, in which incumbent Darren Thorne (R) and write-in candidate Ken Reed (Independent) are also running.[1][2] A writer and teacher, she lists public school funding, working families and local control over data centers among her priorities.[3]
Elizabeth Ferris earned a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary in 2011.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, her campaign described her as a writer, teacher and neighbor who is guided by her faith to stand up for her community.[3] Her key messages were investing in public schools, putting working families first, and restoring community control over data centers, including reversing House Bill 2014, passed in 2025, which she said removes decision-making power over data centers from counties and towns.[3] She advanced from the Democratic primary on May 12, 2026.[1]
