Don House

Don House is the Democratic candidate for the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Belknap 8, in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1] House is a retired information technology and program management professional from Belmont who ran for the New Hampshire House in 2020, 2022 and 2024 without winning, and who names property taxes, health care costs and campaign finance among his priorities.[2][3]

Don House earned a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University and a master's degree from Clark University.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he retired after a 40-year career in IT services and program management, has lived in Belmont for 17 years, and is now a full-time volunteer and board member of several local nonprofits.[3] He listed roles as president of his homeowners' association, prior president of the board of Belknap House, a shelter for families in Belknap County, moderator and worship committee chairperson at his church, and a mission pilot and incident commander in the Civil Air Patrol.[3]

Ballotpedia lists House as a Democratic candidate for Belknap 6 in 2020 and for Belknap 8 in 2022 and 2024; he was not elected in any of those races.[2]

House said in the 2026 survey that rising local property taxes result from the state shifting expenses to towns, and that he would seek to reverse corporate tax cuts and education funding account and open enrollment policies.[3] He also said healthcare decisions should stay between doctor and patient, and that new campaign finance laws are needed to limit out-of-state money in New Hampshire elections.[3]
