Dennis LaBounty

Dennis LaBounty is a Democrat and former state representative who served Caledonia-3 District from January 2023 to January 2025 and is a candidate for the same seat (2 seats) in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] Before holding office he worked as a machinist, a staff member of the United Steelworkers, and political director of the Vermont AFL-CIO.[2]

Dennis LaBounty was born in Newport, Vermont, and earned a degree in applied science from Berlin Technical College.[2] His career experience includes working as a machinist, a staff member of the United Steelworkers, and political director of the Vermont AFL-CIO.[2]

LaBounty lost general elections for the Vermont House of Representatives in Caledonia-4 District in 2018 and 2020, then won the Caledonia-3 District seat in 2022 and assumed office on January 4, 2023.[2] He lost re-election in the November 5, 2024 general election, finishing third behind Republicans Martha Feltus and Beth Quimby, and left office on January 8, 2025.[2] He advanced from the Democratic primary on August 11, 2026.[2]
