Biography
David Tucker is the Democratic candidate for the Vermont House of Representatives, Caledonia-1 District, in the November 3, 2026 general election, after advancing from the August 11 Democratic primary.[1][2] Ballotpedia lists his profession as executive director, and in a Ballotpedia survey he named education, affordability, health care and housing as priorities.[2][3]
David Tucker earned a high school diploma from Shaler High School, a bachelor's degree from Goddard College in 1974, and a graduate degree from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in 1986.[2] His career experience includes working as an executive director.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he held a leadership role in Northeast Kingdom Youth Services, where the Court Diversion Program and Guardian Ad Litem training efforts were started.[3] He said that at Northeast Kingdom Community Action he led efforts to establish the Gilman Housing Trust (now Rural Edge), supported the start-up of Rural Community Transportation, and led Head Start and other early childhood programs.[3] Tucker also said he served as Director of the Vermont Office of Economic Opportunity.[3]
In the survey, Tucker said his key messages are sharing services between school districts so more money goes into classrooms, ending increasingly unaffordable property taxes, making home ownership attainable, and improving access to affordable health care.[3] He said he is especially interested in housing, including reducing unnecessary regulations so downtowns and villages can encourage housing development, and offering incentives such as down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers.[3]
