Biography

David Russ is the Republican nominee for Oregon's 6th Congressional District. A former mayor of Dundee, he has a background in accounting, real estate and business consulting. He sought the Republican nomination for this seat in 2022 and 2024 before winning it in 2026, and his campaign describes its focus as constitutional government, accountable leadership and citizens' rights.[1][2][3][4]

Russ was born in California and earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University in 1986.[1] His career has included work as an accountant, consultant and real estate broker, as well as in manufacturing and technology administration. In a KATU questionnaire he said he started his first business at age 17 and has served on corporate boards for more than 25 years.[1][5]

Russ served as mayor of Dundee, Oregon. He said in a candidate questionnaire that he had been elected mayor five times, and in a KATU questionnaire that he had led the city for more than nine years. His campaign site refers to him as a "former Mayor of Dundee," and the city's website lists David Ford as mayor.[1][5][3][2]

He ran in the Republican primary for the 6th District in 2022 and 2024, losing the 2024 primary to Mike Erickson, and won the Republican nomination in the May 19, 2026 primary.[1][4] According to his campaign site, he is a husband, father and grandfather who describes himself as a "patriot servant leader."[3]
