Biography
Courtney Bangs is the Republican candidate for the Oregon State Senate, District 16, in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against Rachel Armitage (D) and Melisa Finkle (Independent Party of Oregon). A teacher and Clatsop County Commissioner first elected in 2020, she advanced from the Republican primary on May 19, 2026.[1][2]
Bangs received both her bachelor's degree and her graduate degree from Oregon State University and lists teaching as her career experience.[2] In a 2026 Ballotpedia survey, she said she has a master's degree in agricultural education, serves as vice chair of the Clatsop County Commission, and lives with her husband and children on the family's tree farm in Knappa.[3]
Bangs' listed campaign messages were defending working forests and natural resource jobs, greater transparency in how Salem spends tax dollars, and reducing government red tape to speed housing construction on the North Coast.[3]
