On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Minnesota House District 29B

Biography

Colton Kratky is the Democratic candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 29B, in the November 3, 2026 general election; he advanced from the August 11 Democratic primary.[1][2] A Marine Corps veteran who works in information technology, he also ran for the seat in 2024.[1][3]

Kratky was born in Fort Worth, Texas, was homeschooled, and earned an associate degree from Tarrant County College in 2011, according to Ballotpedia.[1] He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2013 to 2019.[1] His Ballotpedia survey says he moved to Minnesota after leaving active duty in 2019 to be closer to his wife's family, lives in Monticello, has worked in IT for more than a decade, and is active in his church's youth and children's ministry.[3]

In the survey, Kratky said he decided to pursue public office after learning in 2022 that he would become a father.[3] He said Minnesota needs fundamental reform of how it funds education, healthcare and community support, and that laws, budgets and processes should be simplified so residents can easily find what government is doing.[3] Campaign finance records cited by Ballotpedia show he lost the 2024 general election for the seat.[1]
