Colin Mitchell

RCandidate

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: New Hampshire House Carroll 8

Biography

Colin Mitchell is a Republican candidate for the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Carroll 8, in the November 3, 2026 general election; he defeated incumbent Brian R. Taylor in the September 8 Republican primary.[1][2] A data analyst and Army National Guard veteran, he said in a Ballotpedia survey that his priorities are opposing tax increases, protecting gun rights and reforming family court.[2][3]

Mitchell served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 2011 to 2025 and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in applied mathematics from Northeastern University.[2] His career experience includes working as a data analyst, business intelligence engineer and coder, and in a Ballotpedia survey he said he rose to Staff Sergeant during fifteen years of service and took part in disaster relief efforts.[2][3]

Mitchell said in the survey that he would vote against tax increases and work to reduce existing taxes while keeping New Hampshire free of an income or sales tax.[3] He also said he would introduce legislation to require a hearing with both parties present before firearms are seized under New Hampshire's restraining order system, and to establish a presumption of shared parenting in family courts.[3]
