Biography
Cody Whipple is the Republican nominee in Nevada's 4th District, having won the June 9, 2026 Republican primary with 61.8% of the vote. A fourth-generation Nevadan, he is a rancher and the owner of a communications-equipment business. His campaign website says he is running on lowering the cost of living, supporting small businesses, improving public safety and parental control of education.[1][2][3]
Whipple was born and raised in Hiko, Nevada, in Lincoln County, on his family's cattle ranch. According to his campaign website, his father died of cancer when he was young, leaving his mother to raise five children.[2][3] He graduated from Pahranagat Valley High School in 1992 and played football at Virginia Tech on a scholarship, earning a degree in animal science. He met his wife, Dana, at Virginia Tech; the couple worked in Virginia for a few years before returning to Nevada and have three daughters.[2][3]
Back in Nevada, Whipple worked in sales for McIntosh Communications before founding Rebel Communications in 2005, a company that services and programs radio equipment for emergency vehicles, school districts and businesses.[2][3] He also manages the family ranch in Hiko and, according to his campaign website, has coached young athletes. He and his family have lived in both Las Vegas and Hiko.[2][3]
Whipple entered the 2026 race as a first-time candidate for the seat and, the Nevada Independent reports, has run without national political consultants. In the June 9 Republican primary he defeated Ronda Kennedy and Anthony Snowden.[1][3]
